Heat from the air. Year-round comfort, lower bills.
A modern air source heat pump replaces your gas or oil boiler with a quieter, cleaner system that runs on electricity. We’re MCS-certified for both design and installation — and the £7,500 BUS grant comes off your quote.

What is an Air Source Heat Pump?
An air source heat pump is a low-carbon heating system that pulls warmth from the outside air, even on cold days, and uses it to heat your home and hot water.
It looks like an air conditioning unit on the outside of your house, runs on electricity, and replaces your gas or oil boiler. Modern units work efficiently down to around -15°C.
Because it moves heat rather than burning fuel, every 1 kWh of electricity it uses produces roughly 3 to 4 kWh of heat — typically two to three times more efficient than a gas boiler.
Comfort, efficiency, lower bills.
Every Bright Nest install is delivered as one integrated package — designed, supplied, installed and warrantied by us.
Year-round heating and hot water
One system for radiators, underfloor heating and your hot water cylinder. Designed for UK winters, not just mild months.
Lower running costs
Typically 3 to 4 times more efficient than a gas boiler. Pair with a smart tariff or solar to push bills lower still.
Designed and installed in-house
Our MCS scope (Cert No. 270527) covers heat pump design AND installation. Most installers only hold one. One team, one accountable handover.
Quiet, smart, futureproof
Runs at around 40 dB — quieter than a fridge. App-controlled schedules. No exposure to future gas price spikes.
You could qualify for free or funded upgrades.
The Warm Homes: Local Grant, Boiler Upgrade Scheme and ECO4 can cover some — or all — of the cost of your home energy improvements. We handle every step of the funding application on your behalf.

£7,500 off, paid to us before you pay anything.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) gives most homeowners in England and Wales £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump. Off-grid homes replacing oil or LPG can claim £9,000.
The grant is paid directly to us as the MCS-certified installer (Cert No. 270527), so you pay only the net amount on your quote. Scheme runs until 31 March 2028.
From enquiry to handover — four steps.
One team handles every stage. No subcontractor handoffs, no chasing different trades.
Free survey and quote
We visit your home, check insulation, radiator sizing and hot water needs, then send a fixed-price quote with the BUS grant already applied.
MCS design and paperwork
Our in-house team produces the MCS-compliant system design and submits your BUS application to Ofgem. You sign once.
Installation
Most installs take 3 to 5 days on site. Outside unit, hot water cylinder, controls and any required pipework — all by our heat pump team.
Commissioning and MCS certificate
We commission the system, walk you through how to use it, and issue your MCS certificate. The £7,500 grant is paid directly to us, so you pay only the net amount.
Designed AND installed by the same team.
Most installers either design heat pump systems or install them. We do both — in-house, under the same MCS certificate.
MCS Design + Install scope
Our MCS certificate (No. 270527) covers heat pump design AND installation. Most installers hold one or the other. Doing both in-house means fewer handoffs and fewer commissioning issues.

Robert & Linda's home
“We were a bit nervous about moving from gas to an air source heat pump, but Bright Nest’s design assessment made everything clear and straightforward. They handled all the paperwork for the grant and the installation was completed with minimal disruption. Our heating bills have dropped dramatically and the house stays warm and comfortable even in winter.”

FAQ
Common questions, answered.
How much does an air source heat pump cost?
A typical installation costs £10,000 to £14,000 before the BUS grant. After the £7,500 grant (or £9,000 off-grid) is applied, most customers pay between £2,500 and £6,500. The exact figure depends on your property size, existing radiators and pipework — we confirm at survey.
Will it work in my home?
Most UK homes can be heated by an air source heat pump. We carry out a home survey first — checking insulation, radiator sizing and your hot water needs — before quoting. Properties with poor insulation or undersized radiators may need additional work, which we’ll flag at survey.
How noisy is it?
Modern units run at around 40-45 decibels at one metre — quieter than a fridge. They sit outside, usually against a side or rear wall, and run continuously at a low level rather than cycling like a boiler.
Will it heat my home in winter?
Yes. Modern air source heat pumps work efficiently down to around -15°C. Your system is designed to meet your home’s full heat demand at the coldest temperature your area sees in a typical winter.
Does it provide hot water?
Yes. The heat pump connects to a hot water cylinder (we install one as part of the job if you don’t already have one). You’ll have hot water on demand the same way you do now — it’s just heated differently.
How long does installation take?
Most installs take 3 to 5 days on site. We handle pre-install design, the install itself, commissioning, and a handover walkthrough so you know how to use the system.
What warranty do I get?
Manufacturer warranties on the heat pump itself are typically 5 to 7 years, depending on brand. Our workmanship warranty is 2 years. The system is also covered by MCS standards and the consumer protections that come with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
