Air Source Heat Pump Installation

Replace your fossil-fuel heating with a highly efficient, low-carbon air source heat pump — with grants of up to £7,500 available.

What is an Air Source Heat Pump?

An air source heat pump (ASHP) extracts renewable heat from the outside air and uses it to heat your home and provide hot water. Even when outdoor temperatures drop to minus 15 degrees Celsius, a modern ASHP can efficiently convert ambient air into usable warmth. These systems use electricity to operate but deliver approximately three units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed, making them around 300 percent efficient.

Air source heat pumps are a proven, reliable alternative to gas and oil boilers. They are particularly effective in well-insulated homes and can work with radiators, underfloor heating, or a combination of both. With the UK Government offering grants of up to £7,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, there has never been a better time to switch to a heat pump.

How It Works

Home Assessment

We assess your property’s insulation levels, heat loss, current heating system, and hot water demand to determine the optimal heat pump size and configuration.

System Design and BUS Application

We design the complete system and, if eligible, apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf through Ofgem.

Professional Installation

Our MCS-certified engineers install the outdoor unit, indoor components, hot water cylinder, and all necessary pipework and controls. Typical installation takes two to three days.

Commissioning and Registration

We commission the system, optimise settings, register with MCS, and provide full training on the controls and monitoring system.

Benefits of an Air Source Heat Pump

  • Up to £7,500 grant available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Approximately 300 percent energy efficiency
  • Significantly lower carbon emissions than gas or oil boilers
  • Provides both heating and hot water from one system
  • Compatible with radiators and underfloor heating
  • Quiet operation with modern inverter-driven compressors
  • Low maintenance with typical lifespans of 20 years or more
  • Eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee when paired with solar PV

Is a Heat Pump Right for Me?

An air source heat pump is suitable for most UK homes, though they perform best in properties with good levels of insulation. If your home currently uses gas, oil, LPG, or electric heating, you may be eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. Properties must have a valid EPC with no outstanding recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation.

Relevant Accreditations

All heat pump installations are carried out by MCS-certified engineers. Systems are registered on the MCS database and comply with all relevant building regulations and manufacturer specifications.
